About
Femboy Friday is a participatory X Weekday trend on social media where femboys post selfies, memes and content related to being a femboy on Fridays using the hashtag, "#FemboyFriday." Tweets using the hashtag date back to 2014. The hashtag increased in prevalence in mid-2020 when the Femboy Hooters meme went viral, becoming popularized on TikTok in May of that year.
Origin
The earliest tweets[1][2] using the hashtag "#FemboyFriday" date back to April 14th, 2014, and include pornographic selfies of femboys. The hashtag increased in use over the following years, particularly on Twitter and TikTok, used to post content related to femboys and celebrating being a femboy, including both NSFW and SFW content. The term also started to see use in memes in the following years. For example, on December 17th, 2019, Instagram[3] user penls_buttler posted a meme about James Charles about it, garnering over 7,100 views in three years (shown below).
2020 Popularization
In March 2020, memes about Femboy Hooters, a parody version of Hooters run entirely by femboys, went viral, possibly increasing interest in the Femboy Friday meme. The meme gained spread on TikTok that year. On May 15th, 2020, TikToker[4] @gorillapain posted a video where he transitions into femboy attire, captioned, "happy femboy fwiday :3" garnering over 300,000 views in two years (shown below, left). Around the same date, now-deleted TikToker[5] @sickriffbruh posted a video dressed in women's clothing saying, "happy Femboy Friday, motherfuckers" (shown below, right, reupload). On May 27th, an Urban Dictionary[6] user posted a definition for Femboy Friday that specifically mentions these users as popularizing the trend, gaining over 200 upvotes in two years.

Spread
The hashtag became increasingly popular on TikTok over the following years, garnering over 500 million collective views in two years. Some of the top videos under the hashtag show men in femboy clothes (examples shown below, left and right). In June 2020, StayHipp[7] published an article about the day's popularity on TikTok.

On June 18th, 2021, YouTuber[8] and musician indxgo posted a song about Femboy Friday, garnering over 98,000 views in a year (shown below).
