Flame On!, also known as The Human Torch's Rap song is a rap song from the 1994 Fantastic Four cartoon, named after the catchphrase by Johnny Storm whenever he transforms into the superhero, the Human Torch. In 2025, the song saw a resurgance after the Fantastic Four themselves were announced to come into the PvP shooter, Marvel Rivals.
Origin
The song came from the Season 1 episode, Mole Man, first aired on December 10, 1994. In this episode, the Fantastic Four were invited for a dance party at the Rockefeller Center in New York City, with Johnny (voiced by Brian Austin Green of Beverly Hills, 90210 fame, who owned a rap band at the time) standing up to sing a rap song about his struggles of confessing to his girlfriend Melinda due to his aloof behaviour. The song was brief however, as the Rockefeller Center building sank underground by the titular supervillain.
The earliest upload of the song on YouTube was on November 9th, 2006 by user CapSulu.
Online
Over the years, many users began to question the song's legitimacy and its usage, as well its strange animation. It was notably highlighted by YouTuber RebelTaxi for his "Top 10 WORST Animated SONGS" video on January 23rd, 2018.
It also made its way to other websites, like X user @NemRaps on April 9th, 2019.[1]
On January 7th, 2025, Marvel Games announced that Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing and Johnny Storm will be added as playable characters in the first season of Marvel Rivals, with the latter two scheduled to be released on January 21st.
After their reveal, many users began to rediscover Flame On! and make jokes and memes about it, some ironically using the song as their victory fanfare on a MVP match.
