"Floor People" Apartment refers to a viral TikTok video posted in September 2021 depicting a minimalist apartment designed by and for floor people. In the video, a woman reveals various quirky aspects of her apartment furnishings. The TikTok spread to alt-Left Twitter within a day and gained more viral traction, mostly due to the strange nature of the woman, associations with doomer culture, pretentious hipster culture and the meme, Damn Bitch, You Live Like This?.

Origin

On September 2nd, 2021, TikTok user @healthy_punk [1] posted a video [2] (shown below) where in it, she showcases her and her partner's minimalist apartment. The video starts off with text that reads, "Things that make my home unique," and @healthy_punk continues to display various ways her and her partner have done so. She has couch cushions on the floor, no bed frame and "little objects everywhere," among them, a vase that only holds one flower stem hanging from the wall. @healthy_punk's channel follows the theme of architecture and modern furniture design. These themes are evident in this TikTok as well, not only through the peculiar and particular aesthetic choices of @healthy_punk, but also through the subtle flexing of a designer chairs and mattresses. The video received roughly 1 million views and 148,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

For years and years, my room had no chairs and I primarily sat on the floor. Then, my mom got a new chair and I got the old one and I really have to wonder why the fuck I sat on the floor for so long. Note that it's not like I couldn't have had a chair the whole time, there was no real reason for it, I was just dumb.
