On March 4th, 2025, TikTok^[1] user @bebopk shared an amateur videoclip of Swiss rapper Dialryckx singing in French. The video is accompanied by the text "is he next up?", suggesting the musician will become mainstream in the future. The video (seen below) received more than 401,000 plays and 56,000 likes in a month.

The original song in the meme was posted on YouTube^[4] by Swiss rapper Dialryckx on September 25th, 2023, titled ‘’Opération’’ (Prod by Nocomrades). The video (seen below) received roughly 229 views and 18 likes in two years.

Dialryckx’s rap song gained viral attention on TikTok over the course of a month after the original post by @bebopk, being known as "French Underground Rap" and inspiring ironic and satirical memes where people pretended to like the rap or dissed the song. For instance, on March 27th, 2025, TikTok^[2] user @math_non58 posted an edited video of several men dancing with the overlay text "Ya’ll sleeping on French rap. We all bumping French underground ts summer." The post received more than 585,000 plays and 76,000 likes in five days.

On March 28th, 2025, TikTok^[3] user @philippe.bleu an animated video of a girl listening to music, adding the overlay text "Ya’ll sleeping on French rap." The video amassed over 633,000 plays and 67,000 likes in four days.
