Fried Cheese and Ham Slap, also known as Cheese Slapping Sound or X Cheese Slap Meme (not to be mistaken with the Cheese Slap Challenge), refers to remixes of a cooking video where a chef makes fried cheese and ham, which features the sound of him slapping cheese and ham slices onto a table. The sound is similar to the "plap" sound effect and has been used in remixes to suggest sex with various anime characters.

Origin

On November 3rd, 2022, food content creator Zach Choi posted on TikTok^[1], Instagram^[2], and later YouTube^[3] a video of himself making a fried cheese and ham sandwich. In the video, he rapidly arranges them in a tower, producing a quick "plapping" sound, then deep fries it. The video received more than 41 million views, 157,000 likes, and 50 million views, respectively (shown below).

Spread

Starting in 2023, the sound of the video saw popular use in duets imagining someone having sex with an anime character. For example on April 16th, 2023, YouTube^[4] user RobbyRoo uploaded a duet featuring the character Hanako from Blue Archive. The video received more than 928,000 views in two months (shown below, left). On May 3rd, 2023, YouTube^[5] user 안녕하십미카~ uploaded a duet featuring the character Hina from Blue Archive. The video received more than 1.2 million views in one month (shown below, right).

On May 28th, 2023, YouTube^[6] user Kuragi uploaded a duet featuring the character W from Arknights. The video received more than 469,000 views in three weeks (shown below, left). On June 7th, 2023, YouTube^[7] user hoho uploaded a duet with the character Silver Wolf from Honkai Star Rail. The video received more than 245,000 views in 11 days (shown below, right).
