"Fuck This Job" *Goes to Work* is a catchphrase that highlights a discrepancy between one's true attitude towards their job and their willingness to continue doing it. Spawned by a viral 2021 tweet, the catchphrase gained virality as a caption for Whisper memes, also spawning the "Fuck This X" *Does X* phrasal template.

Origin

On May 21st, 2021, Twitter[1] user @cayverass tweeted, ""fuck this job" *goes to work*." The tweet received over 46,300 retweets and 167,000 likes in one year (shown below).

In the following months, the tweet was widely circulated online, both through reposts and through screenshots. For example, on July 21st, 2021, Twitter[2] user @igotnochillbroocopied the tweet, with the post accumulating over 34,400 retweets and 114,400 likes in one year. On December 13th, 2021, Twitter[3] user @cosyluv copied it, with the repost gaining over 22,900 retweets and 86,400 likes in nine months.

On July 16th, 2021, Facebook[4] page Senpai Waifu posted a Whisper image macro based on the catchphrase, pairing it with an image of Jujutsu Kaisen character Kento Nanami (shown below, left). In December 2021, a Whisper macro using an image of Officer K from Blade Runner 2049 went viral[5][6] (authorship unconfirmed, shown below, right).

In 2022, the catchphrase spawned a "Fuck X" *Does X* phrasal template format. For example, on January 4th, 2022, artist @aiu404l tweeted[7] a humorous artwork based on the catchphrase that received over 9,600 retweets and 91,600 likes in eight months (shown below, left). On June 8th, Facebook[8] page Backup memes for normies posted a Whisper macro that gained over 18,000 reactions and 7,600 shares in three months (shown below, right).
