Goodbye You Little Shit refers to a series of fan art associated with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure character Yoshikage Kira in which he abandons a boy in a mall. The art, based on a scenario first posted in a tweet, has been the base of many redraws depicting a bad parental figure.

Origin

On May 9th, 2014, Twitter user David Hughes posted a humorous fictional dialogue,^[1] in which his son got lost in a mall, and he reacts by using the mall's microphone to tell him, "Goodbye you little shit". It was liked 61,800 times and retweeted 36,100 times in ten years (shown below).

On August 7th, 2015, Tumblr artist Mustachossom used this tweet as inspiration for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fanart^[2] in which Yoshikage Kira, at the time he's impersonating Kosaku Kawajiri, acts as the parent. The since-deleted post gained more than 41,800 notes in nine years (shown below).

On social media, the 2-panel drawing became the reference for further fan art using this dialogue. Most of the artworks inspired by this meme use an abusive authority figure from pop culture, generally a parent or an older sibling. For example, on Tumblr, a fan art by Jack-O' Lantern Princess^[3] featuring Pearl from Steven Universe was posted on November 2nd, 2015, and gained more than 12,600 notes in eight and a half years; on the same day, a fan art of Gintama character Gintoki by vwyn19^[4] was posted and gained more than 6,700 notes in the same time frame (shown below, right).

On May 10th, 2020, Twitter user gerboar posted a Beastars fan art^[5] that gained 547 retweets and 2,690 likes before deletion (shown below, left). On October 1st, 2023, user @Suwarnadwipa_ posted art of Genshin Impact character Il Dottore,^[6] gaining over 3000 likes and 610 retweets in seven months (shown below, right).

On January 7th, 2021, Redditor xshrimpcake uploaded an edit of Final Fantasy character Alisae,^[7] gaining over 5,000 upvotes before being archived. On September 18th, a similar post to r/ffxiv 18th, 2021^[8] gained over 1,900 points in three years.
