There's barely that much of a jump in Graphics within the past 2 or 3 gens. It's not that amazing now and I'm over it. Plus, photo realistic graphics tend to age poorly compared to stylized visuals on top of being more expensive and time consuming to produce. Of course, the AAA model is unsustainable in the long term and will collapse while AA and Indies will keep doing fine with smaller budgets and development times.
The most interesting thing is that Graphics was more of a hype for me back in the 90s and 00s because I could see the actual leaps and bounds of visuals on top of the gameplay innovation that came with them. Videogames used to be more experimental back in those days, but now AAA don't want to take such risks and would just make another hero shooter live service via a game that took nearly an entire console gen to make because of all the frivolous little details they need to add in. I miss 1998 and 2004 when I get wowed by banger after banger, but now I'd just feel lucky enough with maybe just 3 interesting games a year.
