Groomer Wojak refers to an -Oomer Wojak casting a leary look, with his mouth slightly open in excitement. Originating from the The 35-Year-Old Groomer meme, the Wojak has since gained popularity as a way to depict those who intend to exploit impressionable people, sexually or otherwise.

Origin

The exact origin of the image is unknown. On September 13th, 2019, Twitter^[1] user @sissyhog made the earliest discovered repost of the original Oomer Wojak meme depicting "The 35-Year-Old Groomer." On September 14th, 2019, the image was reposted to /r/dankmemes,^[2] while on September 15th, iFunny^[3] user chulita made the earliest viral repost which gained over 460 smiles on the platform.

Spread

On September 21st, 2019, an anonymous 4chan^[4] user posted the earliest known derivative of the meme (shown below, left), adding hair and headphones to the Wojak. On January 14th, 2020, Instagram^[5] user d00mer reposted an image combining the meme with a joke about Discord Child Grooming (shown below, right), gaining over 420 likes in six months.

The meme did not see a significant presence online until early June 2020. On June 14th, Twitter^[6] user @Tsaristwolf posted the first viral derivative version of the meme mocking army recruiters (shown below); the post received over 640 retweets and comments and 2,200 likes and was widely circulated online in the following weeks.
