About
The Nooticer is a Oomer Wojak meme and slang term that mocks the idea of someone who loves to point out patterns and "notice" things. The meme was popularized on 4chan in the early 2020s, especially on /pol/ boards, where the "nooticer" came to be associated with someone who recognizes "societal patterns" that typically confirm right-wing or conservative talking points about immigration, antisemitism and feminism. By 2023, the term came to be used more generally to describe people with cornplating tendencies.
Origin
The "Nooticer" Wojak became a prevalent 4chan meme in 2021, with the earliest known iteration of the meme being posted to 4chan's /x/[1] board on September 8th, 2021 (seen below).
A 4chan user posted the Nooticer Wojak to the site's /pol/[2] board on December 28th, 2021, in response to an Intercept article that said inflation might be good for working-class people (seen below).
On October 23rd, 2023, Urban Dictionary[3] user "a truth-shaped object" posted a definition for the slang term "nooticer," describing the term's use on 4chan, and defining a "nooticer" as "an internet user who has been *noticing* societal patterns in a way that, if anyone found out, would make him demonized and stigmatized by the controllers of societal narratives." The user continues, saying the Nooticer is someone "who recognizes the ZOG, or (((them))), everywhere, and chuckles when he reads the 'early life' section on a person's Wikipedia article because 'every single time' the subversive actor is a 'Jew.'"
Spread
The "Nooticer" came to be used as a euphemism for a blackpilled 4chan user quick to point out how something may confirm their own biases. An April 25th, 2022, post[4] saw an anonymous user complaining about a sudden influx of Jewish people on /pol/, to which someone responded by saying that "nooticing" them and avoiding their threads could help curb the "problem" (seen below).
On October 9th, an anonymous /pol/[5] user posted the Nooticer Wojak, writing, "I want to start a politically, religiously, ethnically, and racially agnostic movement which seeks to normalize the discussion of Jewish power among the general public" (seen below).
By 2023, the term "nooticer" began to fracture away from its antisemitic connotations. This can be seen in how the term was used on X / Twitter in 2023.
A November 2nd, 2023, post on X[6] by @tulpapilled titled, "the nooticer" gathered over 8,000 likes in six months (seen below, left). On March 24th, 2024, X[7] user @MunstaMasta called Luffy from One Piece a "nooticer," with the post gathering over 7,000 likes in a month.
