Prior to 2005, Macedonia shock art photographer Robert Gligorov made a photograph of an unknown model made from an unusual perspective, making it appear as if the model is pinching himself between their thumb and index finger (shown below).^[1][2]

Spread

The photograph frequently appeared in various blogs^[3][4] and collections of unusual images^[5] since 2005. On January 25th, 2023, the Facebook^[6] page Important Images posted the original picture, with the photograph gaining over 720 reactions and 40 likes in one year.

On January 15th, 2024, iFunny^[7] user The_Ramen_God posted the image, with the post gaining over 3,400 smiles in four months. On January 22nd, the Instagram^[8] account morecorecore posted it as a part of a meme dump, with the post garnering over 30,000 likes in the same period.

On January 18th, X^[9] user @Softwilly posted the earliest recreation of the photograph, copying the pose. The post (shown below) received over 310 reposts and 8,600 likes in four months.

On March 8th and 9th, Tumblr^[10][11] users tatsuname and happygirlartworks posted the earliest found redraws of the image (shown below, left and right). The posts gained over 100 likes and reblogs and 14 likes and reblogs in two months, respectively.

On May 12th, 2024, X^[12] account @insaneposes posted the image, with the post garnering over 13,000 reposts and 188,000 likes in one day. The post was followed by multiple users redrawing the image. For example, on May 12th, X^[13] user @curlysanjis posted a Luffy redraw that garnered over 230 reposts and 3,000 likes in one day (shown below).
