Hairbrush Girl refers to a viral video on TikTok by user @the_ass_slapping_slasher where she lip dubs to "Using You" by Mars Argo while jokingly recounting how she started pleasuring herself with a hairbrush at age 14. The video, created when she was 19, went viral on TikTok in 2019 and gained her the nickname "hairbrush girl." In October 2022, the video saw an increase in interest as the She Calls You Ugly But Her X Vid Went Around School trend and phrasal template went viral, in which TikTokers make vague jokes alluding to lewd videos of girls who bullied them going around school.

Origin

On June 24th, 2019, TikToker^[1] @the_ass_slapping_slasher posted a video with an on-screen caption reading, "Me at 14" where she lip dubs to "Using You" by Mars Argo. The lyrical segment she lip dubs goes:

You're the only one
Who's making me come
To my sinful senses
I'll never love anyone the same
I'll never feel ashamed of using you for pleasure

In the video, she shows a hairbrush on-screen as she lip dubs, "I'll never feel ashamed of using you for pleasure," implying she learned to masturbate with a hairbrush at 14. The video gained over 2.1 million views in three years (shown below). People began referring to the TikToker as "hairbrush girl" in the comment of the video and in subsequent videos.

The TikToker embraced the meme, duetting the original video several times to recreate it.^[2] She also inspired other TikTokers^[3] to make similar videos under the same original sound, recounting times when they learned to pleasure themselves with various objects (example shown below, left). On January 30th, 2021, she posted another video to TikTok announcing, "Hairbrushgirl is 21," garnering over 80,000 views in a year (shown below, right).

She Calls You Ugly But Her X Vid Went Around School

On October 9th, 2022, TikToker^[4] @sstrifry posted a video captioned, "me after seeing that girls hairbrush vid," garnering over 116,000 views in roughly two weeks (shown below). It is not specified what video she is talking about. Many commenters asked for links or context, with some alluding to the hairbrush girl video by @the_ass_slapping_slasher, and some incorrectly saying she was 14 at the time the video was made.

On October 12th, 2022, TikTokers^[5][6] @amicryingyes and @savannaholley posted videos using variations of the caption, "she calls you ugly but her X vid went around school," the former replacing "X" with "dog" and the latter replacing X with "hairbrush," garnering over 1.8 million and 1.4 million views respectively in just over a week (shown below, left and right). Many of the comments on the latter video ask for a link or context, with some alluding to @the_ass_slapping_slasher's 2019 video. On the same day, TikToker^[7] @hxiley.2 posted a similar video alluding to a hairbrush video going around that garnered over 1.2 million views in the same span of time.

Although many people assume it's @the_ass_slapping_slasher's hairbrush video that's being referred to, it is unclear what hairbrush video, if any specific or real hairbrush video, is being referenced in many of these videos. Some commenters seem to believe there is a real video of someone pleasuring themselves with a hairbrush that is going around. Others make comments claiming that similar videos went around their schools, although not always involving a hairbrush.

On October 16th, TikToker @sulkysuz posted a stitch to a now-deleted video referencing a non-descript hairbrush vid, criticizing people making "hairbrush video" TikToks. In the stitch, she tells the story of Amanda Todd's death and says that this could lead down the same path if people keep making fun of a girl publicly for a video going around, garnering over 160,000 views in five days (shown below).

On October 20th, 2022, TikToker^[8] @bruvvvvah posted a video captioned, "TELL ME Y'ALL SAW THE GIRLS SLIDESHOW WITH THE HAIRBRUSH TOO," garnering around 3,000 views in a day and linking to TikToker^[9] @..sandysss as the uploader of the video, although the account has no current uploads, implying the slideshow may have contained graphic footage of someone with a hairbrush.
