About
Hannah Montana Saying Goodbye refers to a clip of Miley Cyrus acting in the television series Hannah Montana dramatically waving bye to her old house. The scene has become a prevalent reaction video and GIF caption meme format on Stan Twitter, typically used when someone wants to exaggerate something they're tearfully parting from.

In season three, episode 30 of Hannah Montana, titled "Miley Says Goodbye? Part 2,"[1] which first aired on March 14th, 2010, Miley gives a dramatic goodbye to her old house, as her family is moving away. Spread
The clip began seeing use in memes starting in the 2020s. An April 16th, 2020, tweet by X / Twitter user @OCHannahMontana[3] has been credited for inspiring the usage of the clip as a meme by BuzzFeed.[4] The tweet gained over 630 retweets and 1,400 likes in four years (shown below).

In the days following the tweet, the clip was the punchline of multiple quarantine-related jokes and other scenarios in which a person might say goodbye to something. For example, on April 17th, 2020, Twitter user @BrokenangeI[5] posted it with the caption "me leaving my house to get the mail," gaining over 5,300 retweets and 25,000 likes in four years (shown below, left).
In later years, the clip became commonly associated with Stan Twitter, as it was used in the context of fandoms. For example, on April 3rd, 2024, the Twitter account "nugu promoter,"[6] which focuses on highlighting lesser-known K-pop groups, used it upon reposting the large sales numbers for the group Kiss of Life, implying the group had "graduated" from being an under-the-radar group. The tweet gained over 16,000 retweets and 62,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).
