He Does Exactly What I Do But Better is a phrase said in The Suicide Squad movie released in early August 2021. In memes, it is used as an exploitable image macro to show one object or thing saying that something else is exactly like it, with the second object or thing giving a short and sweet rebuttal about it being better than the original.

Origin

The line is said near the beginning of The Suicide Squad, which was released on August 6th, 2021, after the prologue is shown. In the scene, the main character Bloodsport, played by Idris Elba, is being introduced to several members of the squad that will be used for the movie's plot. One of the characters he is introduced to is called Peacemaker, played by John Cena, who has the exact same skillset as Bloodsport. When this is called to attention, Peacemaker makes it a point to one-up Bloodsport, a common theme throughout the movie, as he utters the line referenced in the meme format. This scene was uploaded to YouTube^[1] by the channel Aarambikalama Shorts on August 7th, 2021, where it received 37,000 views in one month (shown below).

The first use of this meme was found on Reddit, in the subreddit /r/halo, keeping the original dialogue but adding labels to Bloodsport and Peacemaker to make them refer to the Halo characters Master Chief and Locke. The Reddit^[2] post was made on August 8th, 2021, by Redditor Der_Hashbrown and was ratioed for being anti-Master Chief (shown below).

Spread

The template then began to spread from there, with a version of it being posted to the subreddit /r/Memes on August 17th, 2021, by Redditor^[3] Uwe-Ist-Auch-Dabei, which gained 23,700 upvotes in one month by comparing butter to margarine (shown below).

On August 18th, 2021, a version of the meme was posted to the subreddit /r/PrequelMemes that showed the versatility of the meme for the first time by adding outside elements to it via Photoshop. This new meme used the Clone Troopers and Empire Troopers from Star Wars as the two compared elements, gaining 11,000 upvotes for Redditor^[4] WanMillionClub in roughly one month (shown below).
