High Quality Industrial Grade Glycine From Donghua Jinlong refers to a series of advertisements on TikTok for a Chinese chemical factory called Donghua Jinlong that produces high-quality industrial grade glycine (an amino acid). The account uses AI voices and videos seemingly made in CapCut. Parodies of the account's videos surfaced en masse in early 2024 after multiple users noted that they'd come across Donghua Jinlong's content on the platform.

Origin

On December 3rd, 2023, the TikTok^[1] account @donghuajinlong posted a video that advertised its company, Shijiazhuang Donghua Jinlong Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.^[2] which is a chemical factory that focuses on the production of glycine. The account's first TikTok video received roughly 39,600 plays and 1,400 likes in four months (shown below).

Going into early 2024, Donghua Jinlong's account continued to upload content that advertised its glycine product. For instance, on March 12th, 2024, @donghuajinlong posted a TikTok^[3] that received roughly 134,000 plays and 10,400 likes in three weeks (shown below).

On March 31st, TikToker^[4] @gangstasportivik posted an AI voice parody of Donghua Jinlong's videos using Red Scare podcaster Dasha Nekrasova, receiving over 124,800 plays and 13,500 likes in two days (shown below, left).

TikToker^[5] @gangstasportivik continued the series on March 31st, 2024, using an AI voice of Cum Town podcaster Nick Mullen, gaining over 146,900 plays and 15,200 likes in two days (shown below, right).

Later on March 31st, 2024, X^[6] user @devintoshea tweeted TikToker^[4] @gangstasportivik's video, writing, "I’ve been getting tons of tiktoks about industrial glycine for some reason, and now this," gaining over 1,300 likes in three days (shown below).
