I Looked at Invincible and Sighed is a catchphrase used to criticize the animation quality of the series Invincible in comparison to another animated superhero series that the poster believes has higher quality animation. The phrase first appeared online in May 2024 in reaction to the animation of X-Men '97 and became increasingly popular throughout the year.

Origin

It is possible that the earliest use of the phrase "I looked at Invincible and sighed" was by X[1] user @LESB0B0MB on May 12th, 2024, however the post in which they phrase may have been used is currently unavailable as the user is suspended. On May 17th, X[2] user @WhyBee808 posted the phrase in response to a clip of X-Men '97, using it to suggest that the show has better animation than Invincible, garnering one like in seven months.

Spread

The phrase became increasingly popular over the following months. On December 14th, 2024, X[3] user @Smv_of_Heroes posted the phrase in response to a post sharing a teaser for CoryxKenshin's upcoming manga series Monsters We Make, garnering over 111,000 likes in two weeks.

On December 28th, X[4] user @magikbones used the phrase as a quote-repost to an advertisement for FedEx, which features a FedEx delivery person fighting a 3D animated snake at someone's door, garnering over 119,000 likes in two days.

On December 29th, X[5] user @CosmonautMarcus quote-reposted the trailer for the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, writing, "This is the opposite of 'I looked at Invincible and sighed,'" suggesting Invincible looks better than the show, garnering over 55,000 likes in a day.
