About

I Miss My Wife, Tails is a quote and catchphrase said by voice actor Alfred Coleman as Doctor Robotnik in SnapCube's improvised dub of the video game Sonic Adventure 2. The quote has inspired numerous memes, including fan art, in the years since it appeared on YouTube in mid-2018.

Origin

On June 8th, 2018, SnapCube[1] released its dub of the Hero Story from Sonic Adventure 2, gaining over 11 million views in six years (their Dark Story dub is the origin of the Eggman Pisses On The Moon meme, also voiced by Coleman). During a battle between Eggman and Tails, Coleman, as Robotnik, voices "I miss my wife, Tails. I miss her a lot" before leaving the scene (shown below).

Spread

The scene inspired numerous memes over the following years. On January 13th, 2020, Tumblr[3] user chop-sewycide posted a dramatic image of Eggman with the text, gaining over 35,000 notes in four years (shown below, left). On March 8th, 2022, Twitter user @hallow.ice[2] posted fan art of Eggman saying the line, gaining over 30 retweets and 150 likes in two years (shown below, right).
