I Think I Hauve Covid, an intentional misspelling of "I think I have Covid," is a catchphrase inspired by a tweet describing a scenario in which a man becomes so aroused upon hearing the word "PAWG" that he feels ill, saying "I think I hauve Covid." In the years since the tweet, the phrase has been used to express thirst.

Origin

On April 26th, 2021, Twitter user @bog_chaser^[1] posted a joke reading:

38 y/o gf who still says “sweet summer child”: they’re debating whether PAWG is a slur and i just can’t with the hellsite today.
Me [heard “PAWG” and got so hard i got nauseous]: i think i hauve Covid

The tweet gained over 14,000 retweets and 29,000 likes in two and a half years (shown below). The tweet was likely referring to the PAWG Patrol discourse that was taking place around that time.

Spread

Over the following years, the phrase was used to both sincerely and jokingly express arousal, particularly on Twitter and Tumblr. For example, on September 28th, 2022, Tumblr user gerardpilled^[2] posted it beneath a picture of My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, gaining over 450 notes in one year (shown below, top). On December 14th, Twitter user @Cpt_PORL^[3] posted it in a joking tweet about Twink Death, gaining over 780 retweets and 5,400 likes in nearly a year (shown below, bottom).

The post began becoming canonized in 2023. On February 13th, 2023, Tumblr user japanese-gum^[4] posted the tweet under a post by dyatlovpassingprivilege praising it, gaining over 27,000 notes in less than one year (shown below, left). The phrase was added to Urban Dictionary on August 6th by user Diyamund_.^[5] The phrase continued to be used throughout the year. On October 14th, Twitter user @eventualforever^[6] used it to comment on a video of actor Paul Mescal at a rugby game, gaining over 380 likes in a week (shown below, right).
