I'm Just In a Silly Goofy Mood is a catchphrase derived from a viral video of actor Shemar Moore laughing and saying he's in a "silly goofy mood" that he posted online in 2016. In mid-2021 the clip started to gain viral spread online, inspiring ironic memes including image macros using the phrase, often as a joking excuse for poor behavior and alongside images of someone doing something unhinged or dangerous.

On October 19th, 2016, actor Shemar Moore, known for his role as Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds, posted a video to Facebook^[1] and Instagram^[2] that begins with him laughing. As he laughs, he apologizes and says, "I'm just in a silly goofy mood." He then calls out his haters and talks about his clothing brand Baby Girl,^[3] the proceeds of which go towards finding a cure for MS. The video gained over 190,000 views on Facebook and 58,000 views on Instagram in six years.

The clip gained viral spread in 2021. It was uploaded to YouTube^[4] on June 15th, 2021, garnering over 278,000 views in a year. It was posted to TikTok^[5] on June 20th, garnering over 200,000 views in a year and inspiring over 1,000 videos to use it as an original sound. On June 25th, YouTuber^[6] Tiny Tea TikTok posted a compilation of TikTokers using the sound, garnering over 40,000 views in a year (shown below).

The phrase "in a silly goofy mood" began appearing in memes shortly after the clip went viral. On July 25th, 2021, Instagram^[7] page genshin_planet shared a screenshot of a TikTok commenter using the phrase in reference to Genshin Impact, garnering over 6,000 likes in a year. On October 26th, Twitter^[8] user @ceykore commented, "came out the womb in a silly goofy mood" in response to a photo of a baby striking a silly face, garnering over 600 likes and being reposted online numerous times, including by Instagram^[9] page thememejoke on March 22nd, 2022, garnering over 18,000 likes in six months (shown below).

On January 31st, 2022, TikToker^[10] @takeazoloft posted a video claiming that every problem in life can be solved by saying you were just in a "silly goofy mood," garnering over 3.2 million views in eight months (shown below). The video was screenshotted and posted by Instagram^[11] user inhalemybees on March 2nd, garnering over 17,600 likes in six months.
