About
I'm Tired Of This Grandpa, also known as That's Too Damn Bad, refers to a catchphrase spoken in the 2003 movie Holes starring Shia LeBeouf. The phrase is uttered by the character Louise Walker in a flashback sequence with the main antagonist, who as a kid is tired of digging holes in a large desert and complains to her grandpa Charles "Trout" Walker (portrayed by actor Scott Plank). The scene initially spread as a two-panel exploitable image macro with the quotes included in each panel. Starting in late 2023, the scene started to attract attention on TikTok, with the audio snippet being used as a background song for other memes and jokes.
Origin
On April 11th, 2003, the movie Holes was released to box office success, becoming a core part of many Millennials childhoods. The clip featuring a young Louise Walker and Trout Walker was uploaded to YouTube by the channel T[1] on June 13th, 2012, before memes about the movie had become mainstream, earning over 1.2 million views in 12 years (shown below).
A decade later, the phrase would be used as the scene began to be used as a meme format. On August 9th, 2022, the Redditor u/DeekiNeedles[2] uploaded a two-panel image of the scene, editing it to be about Escape From Tarkov players being upset at having to do lighthouse runs (shown below). The post received over 640 points in two years.

Spread
The meme remained image-based until early 2023 and saw a reemergence on March 9th, 2023, when the full scene was uploaded to TikTok by TikToker gziltchi.[3] This upload, which introduced the audio to the site and was used in over 27,500[4] TikToks as of July 2024, received over 265,000 likes in one year (shown below).

Shortly after its usage on TikTok, the phrase began to be used outside of the original context, as people started to use it as the background for their own TikToks and skits. Starting in late 2023, it began to be used to showcase people who were forced into a situation, often being used to show the other part of being a spouse. One viral example was uploaded by TikToker banannikab[5] on December 24th, 2023, showing a skit in which they are forced to take part in a gingerbread house competition (shown below).
