Iono is an Electric-type Gym leader appearing in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Additionally, she is a streamer and influencer. After she appeared in a reveal trailer on October 12th, 2022, she immediately became the subject of fan art and memes on social media.

Origin

On October 12th, 2022, Iono appeared in a reveal trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, establishing her personality as an energetic streamer and influencer. In the trailer she plays a game in which she describes her partner Pokémon, leaving it for "viewers" to guess.

Spread

In the hours after Iono's reveal, artists on Twitter began posting their takes on the character. For example, user @sextant0yulij^[1] posted art that gained over 2,000 retweets and 5,800 likes in under two hours (shown below, left). User @tabletpillowlam^[2] posted art that gained over 100 retweets and 390 likes in under one hour (shown below, right).

Others made jokes about the character's profession as a streamer. User @hawks_hideout^[3] joked about Iono getting banned from Twitch, gaining over 310 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below, left).
