Tinkaton is a Fairy/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Pokémon quickly became a fan favorite due to its design. The character is a small pink creature that wields a giant hammer. After the games' release, the Pokémon appeared in numerous memes and fan art.

Origin

Tinkaton is the final evolution of Tinkatink,^[1] a Pokémon line introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, released on November 18th, 2022. The Pokémon leaked ten days prior on 4chan. Tinkaton is a Fairy/Steel type, and its Pokédex entry says it uses its giant hammer to try and hit rocks at the flying Pokémon Corviknight.

The Pokémon quickly became the subject of memes that made it appear menacing despite its small stature. On November 14th, 2022, four days before the games' release, Twitter user @orde_placus^[2] posted art of Tinkaton standing menacingly at a window, gaining over 360 retweets and 1,400 likes in ten days (shown below, left). On November 21st, user @eldritchaugur^[3] posted a meme of Tinkaton, gaining over 2,100 retweets and 13,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

Others posted fan art appreciating the character. On November 19th, Twitter user @rapousamania^[4] posted Gijinka art of Tinkaton, gaining over 100 retweets and 390 likes in four days (shown below, left). On November 10th, user @RicoFurlow^[5] posted art of the character, gaining over 70 retweets and 280 likes in two weeks (shown below, right).
