IShowSpeed Backflip Fail refers to a viral video of YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed spontaneously attempting to perform a backflip in front of his girlfriend Vanessa and fellow streamer Kai Cenat but hitting the table with his legs and failing. After going viral on social media in late December 2024, the clip became the subject of edits and caption memes.

Origin

On December 28th, 2024, during his marathon Fortnite stream with Kai Cenat, YouTuber[1] IShowSpeed attempted to perform a backflip in front of him and his girlfriend Vanessa. Mid-flip, IShowSpeed legs caught his gaming desk, with the streamer falling onto the ground (shown below; 8:04:08 mark). The livestream garnered over 7.5 million views in five days.



Also on December 28th, 2024, X[2] account @domainsdomain posted the fail clip, with the upload (shown below) gaining over 840,000 views, 730 reposts and 7,000 likes in five days. Later that day, X[3] user @yoxics shared the same video, with their post gaining over 72.1 million views, 49,000 reposts and 525,000 likes in the same period.


Spread

On December 29th, 2024, X[4] user @ThotPuncher quoted the post, writing that the failed backflip was the funniest thing IShowSpeed had ever done. The post gained over 38,000 reposts and 618,000 likes in four days.

Also on December 29th, X[5] user @wavgawd made a post requesting to edit in Sonic the Hedgehog rings coming out of IShowSpeed's body as he hits the table. Later that day, X[6] user @SageTheRag3 posted the requested edit, with their post (shown below) gaining over 29,000 reposts and 287,000 likes in four days.


In the following days, other users posted Sonic the Hedgehog and other edits of the clip. For example, on December 30th, 2024, X[7] user @KDraws14 posted an Overwatch fan animation based on the clip, with their post (shown below) gaining over 1,200 reposts and 10,000 likes in three days.
