About
Jokes Clown is a clip art illustration of a clown posing behind a large scroll with the word "Jokes" written on the front. Online, the picture is often used as a reaction image, or serves as a template for photoshopped variations.
Origin
The exact origin of the clip art image is unknown. On February 11th, 2015, Tumblr user sympolite[4] published a post requesting the Jokes Clown picture, to which user xeppeli replied with an embed of the illustration (shown below).
Spread
On May 16th, 2016, Tumblr user SrPelo posted an illustrated variant of the Jokes Clown image (shown below, left). On July 16th, Tumblr user badgerking posted a photoshopped version of the illustration with the caption "this house… has JOKES" (shown below, right).
On July 22nd, Tumblr user mediumsizedboy[5] posted a version in which a clown holds a paper with the word "Satire" written on the front (shown below, left). On August 1st, Tumblr user ivelischpfuli posted a photoshopped version of the Jokes Clown parodying mugshot art from the video game Persona 5 (shown below, right).
