Kiss My Nugget or Kissed the Nugget refers to a scene from Smiling Friends season two episode one in which the CEO of Insane Groundbreaking Games tells the character Gwimbly that he'll give him a cosmetic skin in the new Troglor game if he kisses his chicken nugget, an offer that Gwimbly furiously refuses. The scene became the subject of memes that month, with the catchphrase "kissed the nugget" spreading independently as a way of criticizing video game studios for only using their old, unused IPs in referential ways, such as including them as skins in video games. In particular, the phrase spread that month when it was announced that Mega Man would get a skin in the video game Exoprimal. The meme originates from the same scene that the It's My IP meme format comes from.

Origin

On April 1st, 2024, the first episode of Smiling Friends season two aired on Adult Swim. During the episode, Pim attempts to make a washed-up video game icon, Gwimbly, smile by getting him a new video game to star in. They go to Insane Groundbreaking Games headquarters and ask the CEO to revive the franchise but he refuses. He does, however, offer to give Gwimbly a cosmetic skin in the new Troglor video game, a video game based on their new mascot, if he kisses a chicken nugget that the CEO is eating. Gwimbly refuses (shown below).

On April 5th, Capcom announced via the Exoprimal X^[1] account that a Mega Man skin would be coming to the game, garnering over 1,100 likes in four days. That day, X^[2] user @D00biedub commented under the post, "I guess megaman can be a skin in the new exoprimal update. If you kiss my nuggets," garnering over 4,800 likes in the same span of time (shown below).

Spread

On April 6th, 2024, Redditor u/StavromulaAlpha posted a meme to the /r/SmilingFriends^[3] subreddit in which they edited a blunt into the CEO's hand, titled, "Kiss my boof," garnering over 340 upvotes in three days (shown below). Later that day, X^[4] user @phantozone posted the image of the CEO with the nugget, writing, "I suppose mega man can be a skin in the new exoprimal update, but ONLY if you kiss my nugget," garnering over 4,800 likes in three days.

On April 6th, X^[5] user @dan78855503 quote-reposted the Exoprimal post about Mega Man, writing, "I'm fucking killing myself they kissed the nugget," garnering over 8,100 likes in three days. On April 8th, X^[6] user @JosNamesnotJo2 posted, "Oh they kissed that nugget hard. Who TF is making gooner Mario Kart 😭," in response to the obscure video game character Wild Woody being added to an adult kart racing game, garnering over 160 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[7] user @BoomBusterBB posted an edited image of the CEO with the nugget, writing, "I suppose Coyote VS Acme can be a 0.5 second reference in a new season of Velma, but ONLY if you…kiss my nugget," garnering over 9,800 likes in a day (shown below).
