That's a Little Version of Me, Allan, also known as Mr. Boss Gifts Allan His Miniature, refers to a scene from the animated series Smiling Friends in which the character Mr. Boss gifts his employee Allan a miniature version of himself, with Allan replying that he doesn't want it. The scene achieved virality as the source material for edits and redraws in late May 2024 as it became an exploitable meme format.

Origin

On May 20th, 2024, episode three "A Allan Adventure" of season two of the animated series Smiling Friends premiered^[1] on Adult Swim. In the final scene of the episode, the character Mr. Boss gifts his employee Allan a miniature copy of himself, with Allan saying that he doesn't want it and giving it away as Mr. Boss looks visibly disappointed by his choice.

- I… I don't really want this.

On May 20th, X^[2] user @ChicksLuvWillis posted a still image of Allan holding the miniature in his palm, commenting, "do you think he's alive and experiences emotions." The post (shown below) received over 370 reposts and 5,500 likes in nine days.

In the following days, the scene achieved popularity as source material for edits and redraws. For example, on May 20th, 2024, X^[3] user @VivaDaRevo posted a Nintendo meme based on the scene that garnered over 500 reposts and 4,400 likes in nine days (shown below).

On May 21st, X^[4] user @sarahthekitty7 posted a Fortnite edit of the scene that gained over 3,200 reposts and 28,000 likes in eight days (shown below, left).

Other users posted redraws and other memes based on the scene. For example, on May 26th, 2024, X^[5] user @DiivoDrawnStuff posted a Guilty Gear edit that received over 1,300 reposts and 6,900 likes in three days (shown below, right).
