Kuch Nahi Bhai Bas is a phrasal template meme popularized in India. The phrase translates to "Nothing much bro just" followed by an anecdote or joke that oftentimes counters the nonchalant nature of the preceding phrase. Memes using the phrase first gained virality in 2021 on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The earliest known meme to use the phrase "Kuch nahi bhai bas" was posted to the Instagram page bakchodiyanoverload on January 28th, 2021. The meme translates to, "Nothing much bro just watched so many flash warning edits on Instagram that I had to get a cataract operation done." The post gathered over 3,900 likes in over two years (seen below).
On July 14th, 2021 Instagram page extreme_shugal reposted their tweet using the catchphrase, gathering over 5,800 likes in a year (seen below, left). On July 17th, 2021, Facebook page Bakchod Baba posted a meme that translated to, "Nothing much bro just going to an area with Jaats (an upper caste)," with a photo symbolizing a man keeping his attitude in check. The post gathered over 700 likes in a year (seen below, right).
On October 9th, 2021 Instagram page litthanememes posted a meme about event planners using the phrase, gathering over 3,000 likes in a year (seen below, left). On December 28th, 2021, Instagram page johnnylaal posted a meme using the phrase, gathering over 8,300 likes in a year (seen below, right).
