About

LarpTubers, also known as Content Creator Larping or Larp YouTuber Trend, are gimmick YouTubers who roleplay or "LARP" as other popular YouTubers, streamers or content creators, attempting to recreate their mannerisms, appearances, content style, editing and more on their own YouTube channel, which is often specifically branded as a LARPing channel.

The YouTuber Larpiplier, a LarpTuber version of Markiplier, popularized the genre between mid-May and early June 2026 after beginning his channel on May 18th. As Larpiplier gained a following for his Markiplier-esque content, other LARP channels started to rise in prominence and join in on the trend, including LarpyIsHere, a LeafyIsHere LARP channel, LarpewDiePie, a PewDiePie LARP channel and LarpAlert, a Drama Alert LARP channel, among many others.

Origin

The earliest known LarpTuber is Larpiplier, a parody of Markiplier, who posted his first video on YouTube[1] on May 18th, 2026, titled "YOUR NEXT FAVORITE LETS PLAYER IS HERE!!!" to over 45,000 views in about a month. In the video, Larpiplier introduces himself and his channel, acting like Markiplier throughout.

On May 19th, Larpiplier posted his first Let's Play video to YouTube,[2] playing a portion of the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. This is one of the first video games that Markiplier ever played on his channel. The video gained over 32,000 views in about two weeks.

Larpiplier went on to garner over 89,000 subscribers and 1.2 million views across 29 videos by June 8th, 2026.

Spread

As Larpiplier's channel garnered more attention in late May 2026, other LarpTubers launched channels, including LarpyIsHere on May 26th, 2026. This channel mimics the style of LeafyIsHere's videos, which saw him offering critical, often mean commentary on viral videos while playing CS:GO surf maps.[3]

On May 27th, LarpewDiePie, a PewDiePie LARP channel, posted his first video to YouTube,[4] a Let's Play of the game Slender: The Arrival based on Slender Man, gaining over 9,900 views in about two weeks.

LarpTuber compilations and edits started going viral on TikTok in early June 2026, further spreading the trend.

For example, on June 2nd, 2026, TikToker[5] @gentlemen7675 posted an edit highlighting several LarpTubers that gained over 1.4 million views in six days.

On June 7th, TikToker[6] @larptubeclips posted an edit celebrating LarpTube as a return to the "classic YouTube era," garnering over 900,000 views in a day. The video's description reads, "The Golden Age of Youtube has started all of this LarpTubers are coming together making content bringing back the OG YouTube golden era, it's our Job to support them, Larpiplier, Larpenguinz0, Technolarp and LarpularMMOs."
