Lauren Phillips Lifting Alice Merchesi, also known as Tall Woman Lifting Short Woman, refers to a still image of pornographic film actress Lauren Phillips lifting her scene partner Alice Merchesi and pushing her against the wall. Starting in March 2017, the image has been used as a reaction and an object labeling meme, later also gaining popularity as source material for redraws.


On March 20th, 2017, pornography website Exxxtrasmall posted a scene titled "Slinging This Spinner Over My Shoulder" featuring performers Lauren Phillips and Alice Merchesi. In the opening scene of the video, Phillips lifts Marchesi by holding her under her armpits and pushing her against the wall (scene shown below).[1] On March 22nd, an abridged version of the video was uploaded to PornHub where it gained over 18 million views in two and a half years.[2]


Between March 20th and 27th, 2017, Facebook group Dank Memeology made the first known post based on the still image from the video (original post no longer available; reupload shown below, left).[3] On April 2nd, 2017, the still image from the scene was posted to 9GAG, gaining over 8,200 points.[4] On April 5th, 2017, Facebook group Eres Todo Up Loquillo posted a meme which received over 24,000 likes in two years (shown below, right).[11]

On March 8th, 2018, Redditor TimR95 posted an object labeling meme based on the format to /r/MemeEconomy subreddit, receiving over 1,000 upvotes in six months (shown below, left).[5] On April 24th, 2018, Redditor Cains_shoulder posted a meme based on the format which gained over 28,200 upvotes (shown below, right), prompting the further spread of the meme.[6]

Between March 10th and 11th, 2019, Facebook group The Trollercoaster posted a series of memes based on the scene, with a How to Talk to Short People meme receiving over 4,900 upvotes in five months.[7] In the following months, the image has been reposted multiple times.[8][9]

On August 8th, 2019, Reddit user Johnnybrook_ copied the meme, gaining over 23,300 upvotes in 20 hours.[10]
