Lil Uzi Vert Meets GFRIEND refers to a viral video of American rapper Lil Uzi Vert meeting the K-pop group GFriend, who Uzi has been declaring his love for GFRIEND's music ever since 2015. The wholesome encounter generated online discussions, memes and the moment was also turned into an exploitable video on TikTok, being used with ironic overlay texts.
Origin
On October 8th, 2023, American rapper Lil Uzi Vert performed at the One Universe Festival in Seoul, South Korea. After his concert, he met with four of the former six members K-pop group GFRIEND – YUJU, SinB, Eunha, and Umji. The rapper is a long-time fan of the girl group, tweeting[1] about them on September 8th, 2015, saying "I Love Gfriend …..Kpop. ++++great dance moves Beautiful Voices." The tweet (shown below) amassed over 15,000 likes and 10,400 retweets in eight years.
The October 2023 encounter was shared on X[2] by user @sirgoofy28, who shared a picture of the rapper alongside the member of GFRIEND and an Instagram live stream of Uzi reaffirming his love for the girl group. The post (shown below) garnered more than 1 million views and 25,000 likes in a day.

Videos and pictures of Lil Uzi Vert with GFRIEND's members went viral on TikTok and X, becoming exploitable content paired with overlay text, mostly describing a cute or wholesome moment. For instance, on October 3rd, TikToker @ne0wh0re[3] uploaded a video showing Uzi meeting the K-pop singers and a few other moments he had mentioned the girls on social media. The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 658,000 plays and 175,000 likes in a day. On the same day, TIkTok[4] user @va_vaasje added the overlay text "bro is literally the definition of :3," over videos and pictures of the rapper meeting GFRIEND, which garnered over 907,000 plays and 250,000 likes in a day.
