About

MoguYacht refers to a long-form post that was posted on the 4chan board /vt/ that later became a copypasta and Hololive community meme in early 2021. The name is a reference to the Hololive VTuber Okayu, who often says "Mogu-Mogu" as a catchphrase, with the copypasta centered around her.

Origin

On February 28th, 2021, an anonymous user of the /vt/ board on 4chan posted that they had acquired a vast sum of money due to crypto and GME options and had a plan. Their plan involved illegal drugs, guns and femboys dressed as the Hololive member Okayu. On April 26th, 2021, the post was reposted to Reddit's /r/okbuddyhololive by Redditor u/Magazine_Mellow,^[1] where it gained over 950 upvotes in two years (shown below).

Spread

The meme would quickly spread across various VTuber media, with fans asking their favorite VTubers about the MoguYacht, which would result in them being curious enough to read the post. Fans would continue to reference the MoguYacht in memes and discussions based around Hololive and Okayu, with the Redditor u/SirChuffedPuffin^[2] uploading a stock image photo of a yacht on August 28th, 2022, to /r/okbuddyhololive with two pictures of Okayu in front of it. Earning 2,100 upvotes in one year, the Redditor captioned the image as them and their friend getting on a yacht for a week (shown below).

In early 2023, while talking to her chat, VTuber Pippa referenced the MoguYacht before realizing that some of her chat didn't know what that meant. On April 1st, 2023, YouTuber Raildex enthusiast^[3] uploaded the entire clip of Pippa proceeding to read out the copypasta for her chat, while giving background information and context to parts of it (shown below).
