Morning News is an exploitable image series based on a blank template of a newspaper featuring a custom headline and front page photograph.

Origin

In November 2012, PhotoFunia^[1] launched a page titled "Morning News," which allows the user to customize a photograph by altering the image and headline featured on the front of a newspaper laying on top of a breakfast table (shown below).^[2] The page cites PhotoFunia co-founder Alexey Ivanov as the copyright holder of the original photograph.

On March 24th, 2014, Redditor lsaz submitted a Morning News photo featuring the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes character Kazuhira Miller with the headline "Local Man Played Like Fiddle" (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gained over 500 votes (95% upvoted) on the /r/metalgearsolid^[3] subreddit.

On October 5th, Redditor mrhapps submitted an edited Morning News image featuring the character Shulk from the 2010 role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles with the headline "Local Man Really Feeling It" (shown below) to /r/gaming.^[4] Within four months, the post garnered upwards of 1,100 votes (81% upvoted) and 40 comments.
