About

Wet Spaghetti Noodle is a nonsensical copypasta that originated in early 2021 as a joke about Ford truck commercials before a reading of the copypasta became a prominent sound on TikTok in a lip-dub trend.

Origin

On February 20th, 2021, Twitter user @ruby_bhill[1] posted a parody of a Ford truck commercial, writing, "Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend cuz she has a twin sister and you got confused and fucked her dad, well that’s how it feels to drive a Ford F-250." The tweet gained over 200 retweets and 1,000 likes in two and a half years (shown below).

Spread

The text of the tweet was reposted over the following days to other social media websites, including Reddit.[2] Around April 2021, a reading of the copypasta appeared on TikTok. The earliest extant example of the sound was posted to YouTube Shorts on April 28th, 2021, by mrfunnyman8244, gaining over 320,000 views in two years (shown below).

On June 8th, 2021, TikToker @TheRealJohnson81 posted a video using the sound that gained over 13 million views in two years (shown below).

Over the following months, the sound continued to spread on TikTok, often featuring women drawing on a mustache before lip-syncing to the audio.

For example, on November 17th, 2021, TikToker katie.__.abbie posted a lipsync that gained over 24,000 likes in nearly two years (shown below, left). On January 13th, 2022, TikToker @jasmindesilind reuploaded the sound with a TikTok that gained over 18,000 likes in two years and allowed for further use of the sound after the original was deleted (shown below, right).
