MrBeast Hits X Subscribers is a phrasal template used in a series of videos that parody YouTuber MrBeast's reaction to hitting 100 million subscribers on his YouTube channel by replacing the original number with arbitrary numbers. The exploitable meme format achieved virality on YouTube in late August 2023.

Origin

On July 28th, 2022, YouTuber^[1] MrBeast livestreamed his main channel reaching 100 million subscribers on his second channel, MrBeast 2. The video (shown below) accumulated over 14 million views in one year.

Come on. Okay, bro. Let's go, we're so close! Oh my gosh, that was so, I was… Wow, we did it! Oh, they're gonna throw confetti on me.

On August 22nd, 2023, YouTuber^[2] HuntingStats378 posted a video titled "Mr Beast Hits 1 Billion Subscribers" in which they replaced the counter to 100 million with a counter to one billion. The video (shown below) received over 285,000 views in one week.

Between August 22nd and 24th, 2023, Kryptonite posted^[3][4][5][6] four more versions of the meme in which MrBeast reacted to reaching one trillion, one decillion, one and two subscribers, with the uploads gaining over 28,000 views, 512,000 views, 824,000 views and 206,000 views, respectively, in one week (shown below, left and right).

Following the success of the initial videos, more meme makers on YouTube joined in on the trend. For example, on August 22nd, YouTuber^[7] DatGrayDude posted a version that received over 48,000 views in one week (shown below, left). On August 23rd, YouTuber^[8] Alexa Real posted a version that received over 283,000 views in five days (shown below, right).

The format maintained moderate prevalence on YouTube in late August 2023.
