About
MrBeast Antichrist Comparisons refers to a viral debate about YouTuber MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson) over whether or not he is the Antichrist due to passages from the Bible that possibly allude to it. Most of the comparisons were based on The Beast from the Book of Revelations which is inherently similar to his name and logo. Most of the discourse and memes surfaced in January 2023 on Twitter after MrBeast's "1,000 Blind People See for the First Time" video, which some likened to "excessive acts of faux generosity" rather than "miracles." Most of the Biblical evidence against MrBeast was levied satirically, although some online were earnest. The comparisons first surfaced in 2020 on the 4chan image board /pol/.
Origin
On May 24th, 2019, Twitter[1] user Ykulvaarlck tweeted, "what if mr beast is the antichrist." The tweet received no likes in four years but is the first known comparison online. Roughly a year later, on August 9th, 2020, an anon on 4chan's /pol/[2] board started a thread with an image of MrBeast, writing:
This youtuber seems to be a humble fellow, yet inside he is a ravenous wolf. This guy will be a billionare in the next 2 years, his stunts will start to get bigger and more expensive. He will make fire come down from heaven with some technology shit, and people will wonder after the BEAST. He is not the beast from the sea, he is the beast from the land. He will be vice president of the USA in 2030. People will love him because he helps homeless people, which is a red herring, that distracts people from who he really is.
The anon continued to namedrop excerpts from the Bible about The Beast and the Antichrist in relation to MrBeast, earning numerous replies from other anons (shown below).
Spread
Going into 2021, MrBeast was likened to the Antichrist multiple times on 4chan's /pol/.[3] For instance, on November 21st, 2021, an anon posted to /pol/[4] MrBeast's logo with text reading:
>Young
>Famous
>"The Beast"
>Could make millions of people give blind support and shilling to anything he orders them to.
The thread received numerous replies (shown below).
A few months earlier than the aforementioned 4chan thread, the YouTube[5] channel of the Gush Podcast posted its 20th episode, which was entitled, "Is Mr. Beast the Antichrist? Revelations in Modern Times." Over the course of a year and a half, the video received roughly 4,000 views (shown below).
On August 24th, 2022, the YouTube[6] channel of the Cold Ones podcast posted a parody nursery rhyme called, "Don't Watch Mr Beast," which essentially inferred that MrBeast was evil and touched on certain aspects reiterated by 4chan like the word "Beast" being in his name. Over the course of five months, the video received roughly 918,700 views and 34,000 likes (shown below).
MrBeast, what does he teach? Blasphemy and greed.
A YouTube star, millions of views but tell me, what would Jesus do?
You see he's not a Christian channel.
Does he like the number of man?
I'll bet somewhere he has a 666 tattoo.
So please heed my warning.
You're young, your brain's still forming,
And father knows best! Forget, MrBeast.
The fact that "beast" is in his name
Is an affront to God, for shame…
"1,000 Blind People See for the First Time" Video
On January 28th, 2023, MrBeast uploaded a YouTube[7] video titled "1,000 Blind People See for the First Time" in which he sponsored eye surgeries for a thousand people with preventable blindness around the world, also gifting large sums of money to some of them. The video garnered over 43 million views in two days (shown below).
After the video's upload, many comparisons between MrBeast and the Antichrist surfaced on social media sites like Twitter. For instance, on January 29th, 2023, Twitter[8] user mkuItra2trappy posted a quote retweet (since deleted) that stated:
he is literally the antichrist. he's performing our society's equivalent of miracles through these excessive acts of faux generosity and is garnering everyone's undivided love and admiration in doing so. he will start subverting christs teachings next and preaching selfish action.
The QT received roughly 2,100 likes in less than a day before being deleted. However, a screenshot of the QT was posted by the gimmick Twitter[9] account DelusionPosting later on January 29th, gaining roughly 24,300 likes in two days (shown below, left). On January 30th, 2023, Twitter[10][11] user jenny2x4 posted a tweet and a reply about MrBeast being the Antichrist, with the first tweet earning roughly 73,800 likes in one day and the reply receiving roughly 10,900 likes (shown below, right).
