My Executive Level, Bread Winning Wife is a catchphrase often appearing in object-labeling memes in which a male person or character is showing or telling a female one something trivial, often an item they want purchased for them. Used since 2021, the catchphrase has appeared in a variety of formats, most notably in the Taika Waititi and Cate Blanchett memes.

Origin

On February 8th, 2021, Redditor Bbiron01 posted a Taika Waititi and Cate Blanchett object-labeling meme making a joke about a husband showing their "executive level, bread winning wife" memes they found online. The post (shown below) received over 15,000 upvotes in the /r/me_irl[1] subreddit in four years.

The catchphrase did not see further spread in memes until August 2021, when on August 4th, an unknown Redditor posted a Pokemon meme based on the same template in the /r/pokemon[2] subreddit, where it received over 49,000 upvotes in three years.

On August 5th, 2021, Redditor yourdp posted another version of the meme in the /r/daddit[3] subreddit, where it received over 2,200 upvotes (authorship unconfirmed). This version saw viral spread through reposts on Reddit,[4] Tumblr[5] and other sites in the following weeks.

Starting in 2021, the catchphrase "my executive level, bread winning wife" saw further spread online as it was used in redraws of the Taika Waititi and Cate Blanchett image and in other memes. For example, in May 2022, a meme based on a still image from the Star Trek television series saw spread[6][7] (shown below).
