The origin or context of the image is unknown but the image used was uploaded to r/acting,^[1] on October 20th, 2017. The photo is of director Taika Waititi showing actress Cate Blanchett, in Hela costume, a tablet device (shown below).

Spread

The first instance of the image being used as a meme was posted to Twitter by user @itsdannyneary^[2] on January 29th, 2021, using an Astrology GF/Stock Market BF meme, gaining over 7,000 retweets and 50,000 likes (shown below, left).^[3] The most popular variant of the meme was posted to Twitter a few days later by user @dipospeaks^[3], who on February 2nd, 2021 posted it in reference to a house husband showing their wife memes, gaining over 47,000 retweets and 297,000 likes (shown below, right).
