About

My Tea's Gone Cold, I'm Wondering Why is the opening lyric to the 1998 song "Thank You" by Dido, which was notably used as the hook in the Eminem song "Stan." Online, the song is prevalent in slowed + reverb edits and such edits have been used in a variety of memes expressing sad, Doomer emotions (similar to other Doomerwave remixes).

Origin

Dido released "Thank You" in 1998 on the soundtrack to the film Sliding Doors (shown below, left). Two years later, its opening lyric was used as the hook for the popular Eminem song "Stan" (shown below, right).

On February 12th, 2020, YouTuber Peter uploaded a Slowed + Reverb mix of the song, gaining over 12 million views in nearly four years (shown below).

Spread

On March 23rd, 2021, user S1MP_L posted a mix that gained over 10 million views in two and a half years (shown below, left). On June 18th, YouTuber UdkMe posted a 10-hour loop of the mix, gaining over 7.8 million views in a similar timeframe (shown below, right).

The sound has gone on to score myriad short-form videos on sites like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. For example, on August 16th, 2023, the TikTok account Hoopsnation posted a lowlight reel of an NBA player set to the song, gaining over 87,000 likes in three months (shown below, left). Emotional Shower

Emotional Shower refers to a trend on TikTok where someone will be seen crying or otherwise being emotional while in the shower with the water running, often fully clothed. This is typically used to convey sadness at something that someone said, but can also be used to convey being upset or otherwise emotional at a realization or other thought. The meme itself uses the slowed + reverbed version of the Dido song "Thank You."

Mi Bebito Fiu Fiu

Mi Bebito Fiu Fiu refers to a parody rap of the song "Stan" by Eminem and Dido performed by Tito Silva Music and Tefi C. The viral song references a political scandal in Peru involving former president Martin Vizcarra and his love affair, which was exposed via leaked text messages. After the song's creators shared it on YouTube in May 2022, it initially went viral in Latin American countries before spreading to other circles online where people used it in skits about showing tender moments with their partners.
