Now I Just Need To Pick A Good X, also known by its original caption Now I Just Need To Pick A Good Bible Verse, is an exploitable meme format featuring a webcomic by artist Drew Toonz in which a half-naked blonde woman can be seen taking a selfie and then trying to pick what text to post the image alongside, ironically flipping between different Bible verses. Via recaptions replacing the "Bible" portion of the original word bubble, the meme became a way for people to humorously share their preferred quotes or verses from musical artists.

Origin

Sometime in the first half of 2016, comic book artist @DrewToonz^[8] on Instagram posted a webcomic showing a half-naked blonde woman posing for a selfie before pausing to select a Bible verse. The post gathered over 7,000 likes before the account was deleted. The image can be accessed via a May 14th, 2016, post on the alternate account @drewtoonztv^[1] (seen below).

Some early Spanish edits of the image can be found on Facebook,^[2] with the page BaleBergaLaBiblia posting an image on February 2nd, 2017.

On February 21st, 2023, X^[3] user @laramxrtins posted a version of the meme in which "bible" was replaced with "Nietzche" (seen below, left). On September 27th, the X^[4] account @pdalm_ posted a version of the meme that became widely reposted on Instagram,^[5] replacing "bible" with "Jonie Mitchell" (seen below, right).

On September 27th, the Instagram^[6] page @poppyprincesspoppy posted a version of the meme as part of a carousel post that gathered over 15,000 likes in a week (seen below, left). Also on September 27th, X^[7] user @concrettewall posted a version of the meme that gathered over 23,000 likes in a week (seen below, right).
