Oh, I'm Sorry, Are You Sitting Here refers to a viral mismatched TikTok duet in which a girl plays a part of a shy schoolgirl trying to make a friend, but the boy subverts the scenario by trying to get rid of her instead of playing along. The video, first shared on TikTok in October 2019, has since inspired multiple memes and fan animations in which one or both people in the video are replaced.

Origin

On October 2nd, 2019, TikTok[1] user Kati Gregg (@klgregg03) posted a one-minute long video in which she played the part of a schoolgirl trying to make a new friend, with the video being a setup for future TikTok duets. The video (shown below) garnered over 3.8 million views and 410,000 likes in five years.

On October 25th, 2019, TikTok[2] user Chris Kuchar (@chriskuchar) made a mismatched duet with the video, refusing to play along and subverting the scenario by playing a student who wants the girl to go away from him. The video (shown below), recorded with the Funny Mic, garnered over 423,000 views and 49,000 likes in four years.

On November 1st, 2019, YouTube[3] user FunkySaturn reuploaded the duet, with the video gaining over 750,000 views in five years.

On April 17th, 2020, YouTube[4] user BFAB posted the earliest found notable meme based on the video, a Half-Life Sound Effects version featuring a Human Grunt from Half-Life. The upload (shown below) garnered over 1.1 million views in five years.



The video inspired further more parodies in the following year: for example, on January 15th, 2021, YouTube[5] user Spoke posted a Deux Ex version featuring character JC Denton. The video (shown below) received over 357,000 views in four years.



On April 23rd, 2021, YouTube[6] user SuperWiiBros08 posted the earliest found fan animation based on the duet, a Friday Night Funkin' meme that accumulated over 644,000 views in four years (shown below).



More fan animations and other memes based on the TikTok were shared on YouTube and TikTok in the early 2020s.
