Ora Ora Get Pregnant, also known as And That's How I Was Born, refers to the webcomic Sad Past drawn by Japanese artist @kyouen2 about two girls jokingly having intercourse in a class, but one of them actually gets pregnant. The comic was posted in January 2024 and gained virality in the following months as a meme, seeing a resurgence in September 2024 on Twitter / X after it inspired a redraw trend on the platform, often portraying LGBTQ+ characters or shipping characters dynamics in that scenario.

Origin

On January 24th, 2024, the Japanese webcomic artist and X^[1] user @kyouen2 uploaded a webcomic titled "悲しき過去," which translates to "Sad Past," showing two high school girls pretending to have intercourse in the middle of class, a doctor then tells one of them they're actually pregnant and the last panel shows a Yakuza-like character revealing how he was born to a bartender. The comic (seen below) amassed more than 56,000 likes and 6,700 reposts in nine months.

The webcomic gained virality a few months later, receiving an English version on May 13th, 2024, posted by the meme Facebook^[2] page basedyuri (seen below), which amassed more than 2,900 likes and 2,400 reposts in five months.

In mid-September 2024, a redraw trend inspired by the "Ora Ora Get Pregnant" webcomic became widely popularized among many fandoms, especially with LGBTQ+ characters and shipping characters dynamics being depicted in that scenario. The webcomic resurfaced after X^[5] user @soyjak0000 asked if there is any yuri manga "where women get other women pregnant," to which user @himefujojo replied with the "Ora Ora Get Pregnant" comic. The tweet amassed over 286,000 likes and 28,000 reposts in a week.

The resurgence of the webcomic inspired other artists to redraw the illustration. For example on September 21st, 2024, X^[6] user @bebekmokad_ uploaded fan comic of Honkai Star Rail between Danheng and Caelus which result Zenless Zone Zero character, Wise. The post received more than 4,400 reposts and 43,000 likes in three days (shown below).

On September 18th, 2024, X^[3] user @mydarlingchery posted a version of the webcomic with two female Genshin Impact characters (seen below), garnering over 38,000 likes and 4,200 reposts in a week.

On September 22nd, 2024, X^[4] user @OmyChan2 posted a version of the "Ora Ora Get Pregnant" webcomic using Marceline and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time series to joke that they're the mothers of the Count von Count from The Muppets show. The tweet (seen below) received roughly 178,000 likes and 17,000 reposts in a day.
