About

Patrick Star Gets Beaten Up refers to a series of edits of a scene from SpongeBob SquarePants, where various characters fight Patrick Star.

Origin

On March 15th, 2002, season 3 episode 8a of the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, titled "No Weenies Allowed," premiered on Nickelodeon. In one scene,[2] Patrick pantomimes getting beaten up so SpongeBob can prove his toughness and enter the Salty Spitoon. (shown below)



On August 3rd, 2012 YouTube[3] user "BOMBCAT Entertainment, LLC" uploaded a video of himself beating Patrick up (shown below, left). In over 9 years, the video gained over 2.68 million views. On September 16th, 2016, "Han Ellen"[4] uploaded the first edited variant, wherin SpongeBob is edited to resemble Dio Brando and uses The World (shown below, center). Over 5 years, the it gained 298,000 views and 12,600 likes. On September 23rd 2017, Koridai011[5] uploaded the first superimposed edit, featuring a fist (shown below, right). Over 4 years, the video received 3.2 million views and 11,400 likes.

On the 21st of November 2018, YouTube[6] user RaynStorm uploaded an edit featuring Jerma985 as the aggressor. (shown below) The video received 9.3 million views and 28,500 likes over a 3 years span.


On March 30th, 2020, Cantoons[7] uploaded a version with an animated version of himself fighting Patrick. Over nearly two years, the video gained 16.2 million views (shown below, left). On July 11th, Hexal[8] uploaded a version where he animated a stick figure (below, center). Over a period of 15 months, it gained 971,000 views and 8,600 likes. On the 12th, TalvinTV[9] posted their own variant, also featuring a stick figure, gaining 15.8 million views and 68,700 likes. (below, right)
