About
Aris "Aris" Bakhtanians or known as AvoidingThePuddle (ATP) is an online personality, fighting game player, commentator, and variety Twitch streamer.
Online History
Aris began his Youtube channel on September 9th, 2010. Prior to online variety streaming, he was well known for playing fighting games, particularly Soul Calibur and Tekken. His content initially includes fighting game tutorials and gameplay, later uploading content from his streams comprising of VODs and his personal approaches in life, streaming, and other current topics, with the assistance of his editor n0pants. He is also a world champion for Soul Calibur II World Game Cup 2004 and placed in other tournaments. Aris began livestreaming on Twitch on July 17, 2011, later transitioning full time in 2014 after facing employment challenges [insert vid]. In 2011, the website AvoidingThePuddle is created, featuring himself and other veteran fighting game players; the website and Twitch channel is named after a command in Tekken and Soul Calibur character Yoshimitsu.
Cross Assault Remarks
On February 23, 2012, Aris made controversial remarks in a conversation with Twitch.tv community manager Jared Rea during 'Cross Assault', an event held by Capcom. Rea brought up the issue of sexually inappropriate language alienating potential fans of the fighting scene, which Aris responds in the justification, “The sexual harassment is part of [the] culture. And if you remove that from the fighting game community, it’s not the fighting game community." [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] On February 29, Aris expresses his apologies about his remarks, addressing the extreme competitive nature of the FGC and how the traits are ingrained in the FGC [38].

Inside Jokes
Two Rule #1's
Aris has two rules when it comes to chatting in his livestream, or as he calls it "Two Rule #1's": Don't ask him questions and don't talk to him while he's playing. This would unfortunately get people banned in his chat for violating either of these two rules as newcomers would often make the mistake into doing so, especially if said chatter has a 'red name.'
Beard
Aris's beard has been the subject of being poked fun at as his beard is often compared to other fictional/nonfictional characters and personalities that share the same physical trait. Such examples include the crude polygon character Hagrid from Playstation 1's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
ESL
ESL, formerly known as Electronic Sports League, is an esports organizer that produces video game competitions. ESL is notorious in the FGC for poor organization in competitions and matchmaking, to the point that players often exploit the reporting system to gain wins. Because of its poor reputation, the term is used to describe something of poor quality.
Personal Life
Aris resides in Southern California. Prior to streaming and competitive gaming, he worked as an arcade attendant and at the library. From the leaked Twitch Earnings list, Aris has reportedly made $757,872.38 between August 2019 – October 2021[37].
