Jon Hamm is an American actor best known for his role on the AMC period drama Mad Men. His guest spots on shows like Saturday Night Live and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon has lead to him staring in several viral videos.

Acting History

In 2001, Hamm won his first major role in a movie, Kissing Jessica Stein.[1] He appeared in several television shows throughout the 2000s including Providence, Gilmore Girls, and The Division. In 2007 he was cast in his breakout role, Don Drapper on the AMC period drama Mad Men. In its seventh and final season as of April 2014, the show has earned Hamm four Golden Globe nominations and one win for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Drama) as well as eight Primetime Emmy nominations. He has also had prominent roles in several movies during Mad Men's run including Friends with Kids (2011), Bridesmaids (2011), and Million Dollar Arm (2014).

On an episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon which aired on March 10th, 2014, Fallon and Hamm photobombed unsuspecting tourists who were taking pictures at Rockefeller Center. The stunt was uploaded to the show's official YouTube Channel[16] that same day, and as of April 2014, it has gained over 1.2 million views.

On April 3rd, YouTube channel Lighthearted Entertainment[14] uploaded a clip from a 1996 episode of The Big Date game show that featured a 25-year-old Jon Hamm as a contestant. In less than 24 hours the video gained over 56,000 views and was covered by many sites such as Buzzfeed[17] and Slate.[18]

On April 4th, Lighthearted Entertainment uploaded a video[15] that featured the entire episode.

Penis Jokes

On September 9th, 2012, celebrity gossip blog The Superficial[5] published a post titled "Oh Yeah, That’s Jon Hamm’s Penis" which featured a photo of the actor in thin pants through which the outline of his penis was clearly visible. The photo was covered by many sites such as Gawker[6] and The Huffington Post.[7] On September 14th, a Facebook page[8] titled "Jon Hamm's Penis" was created, it has gained over 1,900 likes as of April 2014.

On March 27th, 2013, Heavy[9] published a post titled "The Top 5 Tumblrs Obsessed with Jon Hamm’s D*ck" which featured Tumblr blogs such as Jon Hamm's Wang[10] and 50 Shades of Hamm[11] that focus on the actor's penis. The same day Rolling Stone[12] published an interview with Hamm in which he expresses anger at that particular kind of attention saying,

Sad Don Draper is a photoshop meme that involves taking a screen shot of Don Draper (played by Hamm) crying and putting it over a photo of something sad (or comically not sad). On September 5th, 2010, an episode of Mad Men titled "The Suitcase" aired. During one scene in the episode Don Draper breaks down sobbing, a screenshot of that scene is used for the meme. On September 7th, the Tumblr blog saddondraper[2], which collects and posts Sad Don Draper photos, was created. On the same day Refinery29[3] reported on the meme and on September 8th, Funny or Die[4] compiled the best of the meme.
