Overview
Mysticxlipstick, also known as Danielle "Ayoka" Johnson, was a Los Angeles-based influencer known for her large Twitter / X following, on which she primarily posted about astrology, QAnon conspiracy theories and alternative medicine. In early April 2024, Ayoka stabbed her partner to death and pushed her two children out of a moving car before she died in a car crash, purportedly spurred by her beliefs surrounding the 2024 solar eclipse or her struggles with postpartum depression. In the days following Ayoka's death, internet users discussed their growing concerns about conspiracy theorists and their ilk being promoted and platformed online.
Background
Danielle "Ayoka" Johnson joined Twitter / X[1] in December 2010, with her posts first gaining traction on the platform in 2016. Many of her early viral posts were either memes or related to her astrology practice. Her earliest known viral post was on September 30th, 2016, an image that reads, "Black Moon Ritual 2016" (seen below).
Also in 2016, various media outlets reported on Johnson's astrology work, including The Fader[4] and Refinery29,[5] calling her clairvoyant and commending her "knack" for giving people accurate readings based on their sun signs. By 2024, Johnson had gathered over 100,000 followers on her X account.
In the weeks leading up to the 2024 solar eclipse, Johnson began making increasingly erratic posts about the dangers of the eclipse, as seen in posts from April 4th[2] and April 5th,[3] 2024, that gathered over 1,000 likes each (seen below).
On April 10th, 2024, the Los Angeles Times[6] reported that Danielle Johnson had stabbed her partner and pushed her two children out of a moving car before dying in a car crash early on April 8th, 2024, hours before the solar eclipse.
According to the article, Johnson stabbed her partner and pushed her children out of her car, killing an infant, before she herself died in a car crash early on April 8th. A relative pointed to Johnson's recent battle with postpartum depression as opposed to her astrology practices as the cause of the tragedy.

Various internet users unearthed posts from Danielle Johnson made in the days leading up to her death as the story spread online in mid-April 2024.

On April 11th, X[7] user @Shayan86 reposted various tweets shared by Johnson, writing, "Her X account with over 100,000 followers is packed full of conspiracy theories about astrology, wellness, anti-vax and alternative medicine, Covid-19, QAnon, and antisemitism with an alarming turn towards doomsday theories in the lead up to the solar eclipse" (seen below, left).
Also on April 11th, 2024, X[8] user @yungkalez wrote, "Awful quality journalism to cover a woman snapping + killing her entire family by making her interest in astrology the focal point of the story rather than putting a spotlight on postpartum depression and spiritual psychosis, which would’ve actually made a profound impact," gathering over 3,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
