RinRinne, also known as Rinrinne30 or RinRinne39 is an Japanese-speaking, independent virtual influencer depicted in an anime character. The influencer started to go viral in April 2022, but shortly retired in August of the same year. A clip of the character went viral on TikTok, inspiring the Cutie Patootie meme.

Online History

RinRinne debuted on YouTube^[1] on April 18th, 2021 in a video (shown below) titled "Rinrinne's Red Cloak Episode 1 [Vtuber]" The video showcases gameplay of a Japanese horror game and amassed 218,000 views and 8,900 likes in two years.

RinRinne posted a total of 14 videos on YouTube before ending activities and deleting her social media channels, including TikTok and Twitter / X in August 2023. A Reddit^[2] post from August 11th, 2023, asked why the VTuber stopped posting content on social media, to which user /u/kebyou responded that the creator "didn't really state a reason other than she was ending activities and deleting socials this month [august]."

Fan Art / Memes

The VTuber became an increasingly popular subject of fan art and memes throughout the 2023s on sites including TikTok,^[3] where the video posted on May 13th, 2022, titled "How do I look?" became a popular exploitable on the platform. The video (shown below) garnered over 309,000 views and 27,000 likes in a year.

Cutie Patootie

Cutie Patootie is an endearing nickname that became a memetic slang term and spam comment on TikTok in 2023, thanks in part to clips of RinRinne. For example, on August 11th, 2023, TikTok^[4] user @_therealhandro_ posted a clip of the VTuber paired with the overlay text "Yeah she's only into girls." The post amassed over 10,600 likes in three weeks.
