In the early 2000s, Sonny5ideUp began posting to Instagram,[5] Twitter[4] and Facebook.[3] His Instagram account has gained over one million followers as of June 2019. On January 6th, 2016, Sonny5ideUp was featured in a Mic[1] article titled, "8 Funny Instagram Accounts to Follow for LOLZ -- Because Sometimes We Just Need a Laugh." On July 12th, 2018, he was interviewed by The Atlantic[2] about the decision behind turning his account private to gain more followers.
