StephenIRL is a Twitch streamer and bounty hunter. In 2019, he achieved viral success after broadcasting the apprehension of woman live on Twitch.

Online History

On August 30th, 2017, StephenIRL launched his Twitch account.[1] Two years later, StephenIRL posted his earliest known video, on April 23rd, 2019 (shown below). In the video, he replaces a "knock position sensor" on a 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Within two months, it received more than 130 views.[2]

Bounty Hunting Video

That day, StephenIRL published his first bounty hunting video. Entitled "Taking Care of Business – Bounty Hunting Live," the video received more than 2,600 views in two months (shown below, left). Over the next few months, StephenIRL continued to post bounty hunting videos (example below, right).

On June 17th, 2019, StephenIRL posted a bounty hunter video clip by RYSTERSS. The post became one of StephenIRL's most popular to-date, received more than 120,000 views (shown below). In the video, StephenIRL attempts to apprehend a suspect, before kicking her door down.

That day, another Twitch[3] user DusksPhantom shared another clip from the broadcast in which StephenIRL questions the woman he apprehended, who tells him that she shut the door because of StephenIRL's partner's skin color. She said, "She saw a Black guy, so she shut the door."

Several media outlets covered the video, including Dextero[4] and The Daily Dot. [5]
