Overview
The America Party is a proposed political party by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk that looks to represent the "80% of people in the middle" and break America from a two-party or, as Musk calls it, "uniparty" system. The party was first envisioned by Musk on June 5th, 2025, via a post to X / Twitter, asking users if it's time to start a party in America that "represents the 80% in the middle." The post was made during Musk and Trump's falling out. A month later, in July 2025, Musk began posting more about the America Party and claiming that he would officially start the party to "fight the Republican/Democrat Uniparty." The announcement inspired reactions and memes online, including memes about the America Party being run by people from India due to Musk's support of the H-1B visa program. It also goaded a response from President Donald Trump, who called the idea of the party "ridiculous." An unofficial, fan-made X page, @AmericaPartyX, was started to show support for the America Party.
History
June 2025
Throughout June 2025, Elon Musk and Donald Trump engaged in a public, online feud after Musk criticized Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" act.
On June 5th, 2025, during the feud, Musk posted on X,[1] "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" The post, which garnered over 280,000 likes in a month, includes a poll, which received 80 percent "Yes" votes and 20 percent "No" votes from over 5 million voters.

On June 6th, Musk quoted the X[2] post, writing, "The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle! And exactly 80% of people agree 😂 This is fate."
Later that day, X[3] user @benruel58 commented with an AI-generated image of a potential logo for the party, reading "America Party." Musk commented back, "'America Party' has a nice ring to it. The party that actually represents America," garnering over 5,300 likes in a month.
Shortly after, Musk made another post to X[4] simply reading, "The America Party," garnering over 215,000 likes in a month.

July 2025
On July 4th, 2025, Elon Musk posted a poll on X[5] asking if they should create The America Party to offer "independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system!" garnering around 65 percent "Yes" votes of 1.2 roughly million voters.
On July 5th, Musk made a post to X[6] announcing the party, garnering over 142,000 likes in two days. The post reads, "By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom."

Donald Trump's Response
On July 6th, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly called the idea of The America Party "ridiculous," quoted by BBC[11] as saying, "I think it's ridiculous to start a third party. It's always been a two-party system, and I think starting a third party just adds to the confusion."
Online Reactions / Presence
On June 7th, 2025, the unofficial @AmericaPartyX X[7] account was started, garnering over 230,000 followers in the next month. The page shares posts and memes, many of which are AI-generated, showing support for The America Party and Musk in general. The page is not affiliated with The America Party in an official capacity.

The America Party Run By Indians Memes
In early July 2025, following the official announcement of The America Party, X users started posting memes about The America Party being run by people from India rather than people born in America. These memes seemingly stem from Musk's support of the H-1b visa program in America, which allows employers in the United States to hire foreign workers in specialty jobs, such as IT, computer science, engineering and teaching positions.[8]
For example, on July 5th, 2025, X[9] user @still_boneless posted a meme showing numerous Indian people under the caption "The American Party," garnering over 28,000 likes in two days.

On July 6th, X[10] user @0HOUR1__ posted an image of several Indian people working at a call center, writing, "America Party headquarters coming soon…," garnering over 5,400 likes in a day.

Also on July 6th, 2025, Redditor AlphaMassDeBeta posted a Cat Looks Inside meme to the /r/greentext [12] subreddit referencing the party, receiving over 1,900 upvotes and 10 comments in 23 hours.
