TierZoo is an "edutainment" YouTuber who specializes in teaching about animals and their roles in habitats using tier list parodies categorizing the animals as if they were class builds and planet Earth was an MMORPG. In the span of a year the has quickly grown in popularity, with videos consistently reaching millions of views and the channel accumulating over 800,000 subscribers in total. Videos on this channel are recognizable for their audiovisual references to the game Runescape.

History

The TierZoo channel was created on July 1, 2017.[1] The channel's first video, titled, "Are all amphibians low tier? [SECRET TOP TIER]" argued that the cane toad was an "S-tier" build in the amphibian class. The video gained 800,000 views in total (shown below).



As of August 3rd, 2018, the channel has released 29 videos, all with hundreds of thousands of views, and many over a million. To date, its most popular video, titled "Are Humans OP," has over 3.1 million views (shown below, left). Its next-most popular video, with over 1.8 million views, is titled "The Cat Tier List" (shown below, right).



The channel has grown a significant fandom, including a subreddit with over 14,000 subscribers[2] and a page on TV Tropes. [3] The channel was covered by Kotaku[4] in April of 2018.
